Earth’s Ally Disease Control is a new generation of disease control formulated from food-grade citric acid. The formula effectively controls powdery mildew, downy mildew, blight, canker, black spot and leaf spot while leaving no harmful residue on plants. Earth’s Ally can be safely sprayed on herbs and vegetables up until the day of harvest.
For best results, shake the bottle and fully saturate the stems and leaves of the plant you are treating. Continue application every 5-7 days until the disease is controlled.
I was glad to try this organic method of disease control. It worked great on the powdery mildew on my zucchini and cucumber, but did not work so well on other unknown diseases on my cantaloupe and watermelon. I prefer organic any time I can find something effective to avoid chemicals. This had much less of a smell than neem oil, but didn’t have as good overall effect.
It is too early to tell whether or not the spray works as intended. However, one BIG difference between it and other bug, pest, and disease control sprays is the smell. I’ve previously used a disease spray on roses that smelled so bad that we could not be near the sprayed plants for days which is annoying. This spray does not smell bad and I’m happy to use it nearby where we hang out on the deck.
The spray bottle bottle makes it easy to grab the product and treat the problem when it is first spotted. The choice between the narrow and wide spray is very helpful. I had problems with ants starting to farm aphids on my hibiscus and fungus on several plants. Spraying got rid of the aphids and I have not seen the fungus spread since spraying a week ago. I’m hoping the plant will heal the affected leaves in time.
This is a hard one because it did work but not efficiently for the mildew on my peonies bush. This bush is large and 65+ years old. Each year after flowering it gets the white mildew. While it did seem to start working, the size of the Bush would take multiple bottles and several applications to get it under control. I used the full spray bottle on the first application. The scent is nice and being organic good but I need something stronger for this mildew. It would be fine for smaller plants.
Used this today to battle the mildew we always get on our rose bushes. We caught the mildew early so very hopeful that Earth’s Ally will prevent the abundance this year. The spray bottle is top quality and applies a really nice coating on the leaves. The primary ingredient is Citric Acid so I’m confident it will be safe for vegetables when I need it.
