Earth’s Ally Weed & Grass Killer is a non-selective, ready-to-use herbicide. Powered by sea salt, it quickly kills common weeds to the root and offers a safer alternative to harsh chemicals when used as directed. Earth’s Ally kills common weeds, including broadleaf, crabgrass, dandelion, clover, ivy, chickweed and many more. When used as directed, Earth’s Ally delivers visible results in 3 hours and has been proven to kill weeds to the root, so you won’t end up treating the same weed repeatedly.

For best results, use Earth’s Ally on a dry, sunny day. Shake the bottle to thoroughly mix the ingredients and saturate the weeds you want to eliminate using the stream setting, not mist. Apply generously to both the leaves and base of the weed so the sea salt makes its way to the root. Do not use during rainfall or when weeds are wet. Avoid overspray on desirable plants.
I have mixed emotions about this product. On the one hand, it satisfies my urge to support an environmental safe and responsible product but on the other hand its user-friendliness left much to be desired. The gallon container has a nifty sprayer that easily inserts into the cap but the flexible plastic hose is only about five inches long which makes it extremely difficult to hold the container in one hand while spraying with another. For the most part, I put the gallon container on the ground while I bent over and sprayed the weeds (which killed my fragile back). It would be better if the hose was longer so I didn’t have to bend over quite so much. I tested it on various weeds emerging out of my gravel driveway and followed the instructions to use it in abundant sunshine and to saturate the weed. The contents have a very strong vinegary odor that I was not prepared for and I wondered whether I should be pickling with the contents rather than killing weeds. The instructions state that results should be visible in 3 hours but I didn’t notice any change until several days later. After about 3 days there were obvious signs that weeds were turning brown although not clearly killed. The instrutions state that multiple applications may be necessary for tough or dense weeds so I will need to reapply to find out whether it completely works after my back improves.
I use other brand name products that are to do the same thing, kill vegetation. They don’t use sea salt as a means but a more harsh chemical that could be a carcinogen if not used with the right protection. This product, because it doesn’t have those kind of chemicals, was appealing. I did a couple of test spots to see how it worked for me. It worked okay but I needed to treat the grass I was testing twice to get it to work. I know that’s not the case with the other products thus I discounted the stars. I didn’t have any more difficult weeds to test but question if this product can handle the really tough weeds. I’d wished the product would be designed to go after grass and not other plants like shrubs. That would seem to be a better fit for this product.
I must admit I was really excited to try Earth’s Ally Weed and Grass Killer. Having a product made in the USA, bee safe, and more environmentally than glyphosate is important to our family. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the results I was hoping for. I soaked the weeds and grass along one of our fence lines three times. Each application was 2 to 3 days after the last application. I made sure to shake the bottle well before using. Each time I sprayed was in the afternoon with temperatures in the 90s. Some of the grass and couple of broad leaf weeds have turned slightly brown but none of them are dead.
I don’t feel that Earth’s Ally 1 gallon weed and grass killer ready-to-use works very well. I have tried spraying each day for 3 days. One weed turned yellow but doesn’t look dead. Another weed is partially dead but the rest looks healthy. Other weeds I’m undecided. I followed the directions to shake the container, how to spray & to spray in bright sunshine and not when it has rained or may rain. Nothing died within the 3 hours.
Would i recommend this product? That was a tough question. I don’t think I’d buy it again because it just smells terrible… a VERY strong, VERY pungent vinegar smell comes along with the EARTH’S ALLY WEED AND GRASS KILLER. If you like spraying salt & vinegar on your weeds, this is your product.
Does it work? Yeah, I have before and after pics. Set up was easy; you just stick the nozzle tude in and start pumping. It can spray as far as 8 feet, so you have some range.
But it smells…
